Our second annual Earth Day was a rousing success. Over 30 volunteers and state parks staff joined together to give Picacho a facelift.
The day was spent upgrading campsites 7, 8, and 9 with new shade ramadas, concrete picnic tables, and beautiful new fire rings. Parking bumpers were installed around each site. And finally, T-posts were installed around much of the area containing the mesquite trees planted last year. These areas will be fenced to keep the burros out until the trees mature.
Incredibly, most of this work was done in just four hours. Way to go team!
Thanks to all our volunteers who took time to lend their support. Your hard work will be enjoyed by Picacho visitors for years to come. Well done!
Thanks goes out to California State Parks Foundation for awarding a $5,000 grant to fund the project. We can't say enough about their continued support of all our state parks.
